Romney got 27% of the Latino vote in 2012.

In a new poll out today, Trump gets 27% of the Latino vote in a head to head match up with Hillary Clinton.

Clinton Thumps Trump in Latest Head-to-Head Poll

While it's not an improvement, and the GOP needs to do better, he's not doing any worse than the last GOP nominee.

    That's very true.

Cruz as the alternative to Trump is going to drive the GOP establishment insane.

    You view 27% as "many?"

Mentioned elsewhere in these parts but some high up Republicans in the Senate have let it be known that they'll campaign against Cruz if he gets the nomination.

    No. Not at all.

I'm just saying that Trump isn't doing any worse than Romney.

More to the point: It will scare them. Cruz is scary precisely because he's so smart, and he's also a tireless, driven zealot. There are Nixonian elements to him, and Nixon scares them.

Cruz really is brilliant. And he really is conservative. That does scare establishment Republicans as much as anyone.

Meanwhile, if Trump were actually elected, does anyone think he would govern like a conservative? I don't?

Who would he fill the bureaucracy with? Who would he appoint to the federal bench, and especially the SCOTUS? I doubt they would be movement conservatives.

Cruz would load it up with members of the Federalist Society.

Nor will he, since he isn't going to be the nominee.

Hard to say who it will be. Rubio or Cruz, I guess. I thought the GOP couldn't any bigger of a shitshow than it was in 2008 when Palin and some bald, nom-de-plumber were talking foreign policy, but it's close again. Carson made it close. Many weeks, maybe even a month, spent on him.

The poll is bullshit. Trump won't get 27% of the Latino vote -- he'd be damn lucky to get 7%.

He's essentially based his campaign on ethnic cleansing against Latinos.

I'm not convinced Trump will be the nominee, but I'm also not convinced he won't be.

He's held his support for 5 months now. That's not some Carly Fiorina boomlet. That's a long time. Most of his voters aren't going anywhere, and his supposed ceiling keeps getting higher.

Bush is done. Trump spent one day attacking Carson, and Carson is now done.

Cruz and Rubio are still alive. Cruz might even win Iowa, which will keep him in the game.

Rubio makes a lot of sense. Most of the party could support him. But, he needs to get going, and the 10 candidates lagging in the polls need to get out.

If the field stays as big as it is through Super Tuesday, Trump might dominate South Carolina and Super Tuesday.

Why's the poll bullshit -- because you disagree with what it found?

The poll did not ask anything about Trump having sex with his daughter.

    Therefore it is bullshit.
