I get that. But there's a lack of rigor and consistency to the discourse that suggests the "tarp over the windows, junk on the porch" mindset.

I have a few Facebook friends who fall into that category, or have over the last 10-15 years. One of them got real sidetracked into the vaccine debate recently. He asked me if I agreed with him since I wasn't battling with him on Facebook (and also hadn't unfriended him, like some have) and I said: No, I don't, but, to be honest, you're so ill-equipped to have that conversation online there isn't any point in engagement.

For me, like a lot of things, it's not just the "what" but the "how."

A frame shop sign in my town reads:
    The Fewer
    The Facts
    The Stronger
    The Opinion

    Yep.

The San Bernardino thread is filled with YF's work. He's reading, posting links and passages, asking questions and desperately trying to spark a debate. All he gets in return are a bunch of posts by purposefully (and sometimes not so purposefully) ignorant liberals parroting talking points or ignoring questions altogether. Oh, and the occasional coffee repairman joke. The idea that political discourse is in the toilet because "one side" is perfectly willing to ignore facts and dig in its heels is an unfortunately fitting response.

Seriously. It's just like a data dump. It's bullshit ... any time anyone asks a question or post something disputing his post he disappars or just plows on. That's not debate.

Wait a minute - you have guys on here complaining about the methods of YF? A guy who posts facts/links, doesn't use snark, and doesn't name call?

    Good gravy.

I thought Alma was talking about Tony not YF?

The two aren't in the same ballpark.
