Fourth one comes with an asterisk.
Reggie Bush. National title in '04, Heisman in '05 that was later vacated, and Super Bowl with the Saints in '09.

Almost as amazing, since we're on Heisman-Super Bowl trivia, is that Staubach and Plunkett are the only two Heisman-winning quarterbacks to ever start a Super Bowl. Either Newton or Carson Palmer could add to that small fraternity this season.

He's the highest rated passer in the league, has two less td's then Newton, 3 less picks and is completing 68% of his passes compared to Newton's 59%.

He probably won't get a sniff but it should be much closer than it will be.

It's interesting, of the four - Dorsett's is the only one which is "clean." Woodson and Allen were on split NCs and Bush lost his Heisman and one of the titles, the other one was split.

WATCH Vontaze Burfict's 'cheap shot' on Ben Roethlisberger

I missed this during the game, but the NFL needs to take a hard look at a few things regarding Vontaze Burfict's performance Sunday against Pittsburgh.

He led a group of Bengals who intruded on the Steelers' warm-ups before the game, which got the bullshit between the teams started early. More importantly, he got away with an ugly cheap shot on Ben Roethlisberger's legs. He comes clearly dives at Roethlisberger below the knees. Roethlisberger said he didn't worry about it at the time because Burfict claimed he was pushed, but he video clearly shows that is not the case.

Also, Burfict left the game more than once with what seemed like a concussion, yet was allowed to return twice. Again, an NFL team seems to be failing to properly follow the league's concussion protocol and the league office is doing nothing about it. Just like they did nothing about the blatant failure by the Rams with Case Keenum a few weeks ago. The policy is a joke if the league isn't going to enforce it.

Don't talk to yourself on a message board so much and watch the game. You won't miss anything that way.

  6. I caught it. NBC never bothered. I swear Roethlisberger does not get the same protection other "elite" QBs get; Brady, Manning, etc. ...

I've always thought I noticed it more simply because I see him play so much more than other quarterbacks, but he really does take quite a few low hits that are not called. I just think NFL officials are far too inconsistent with that call.

McCarron is definitely better than him.

Palmer is deserving, for sure. I just think it's dumb for you to throw Newton out of the conversation unless he goes 15-1.

Not throwing him out, just saying that if they don't go undefeated he is not automatic. But his numbers are as good as a number of other QBs who are leading their team to the playoffs. Carolina's defense is giving up the second least amount of points in the NFC. Panthers have also only played 2 teams with winning records so far. And if the schedule holds out they might not face a team with a winning record until the Divisional Playoffs.

BEst argument for Cam Newton is Ginn. 80 targets to Ginn and 37 receptions. It can't be that Newton misses him that often, Ginn is his top WR, that makes Newton as deserving as anyone.
