Since this is essentially a remake of Star Wars, and Yoda and Lando weren't in that, they didn't belong in this!

We'll see them in Star Wars: Episode VIII: The First Order Strikes Back

It was funny hanging with my cousin, a huge fanboi, at Christmas. He gravely recited every two-bit rumor to me as if it were a state secret he was privy to.

    "Rey is Luke's daughter."

"I know who Finn is - Lando's son."

Is there any reason to believe Finn is Lando's son other than the fact that he is black? Seems lazy to me to just latch on to that. Has anything been said/seen that would support that?

There was a toy description on Amazon that said he was.

Oh, OK. Thanks for clearing it up. Haven't been reading/watching a lot of the spoiler type stuff, and I don't do the EU shows/books at all either.

It would be absurd if he was Lando's son. Just absurd.

It won't happen. But it's funny to me to interact with that kind of fanboi. There are legions of them out there, I think, who would find that to be clever storytelling.

Speaking of fanboi rumors, I read one claiming that Han was still alive.

The theory was that the way he died was similar to how Luke ended up in Empire after finding out Vader was his father, falling down a large hole. But because Leia felt him with the force, she was able to rescue him. Apparently she did the same with Han in TFA. But what about the lightsaber through Han's chest, you ask? Well, because Kylo proved in the first few minutes that he could control blaster lasers with the Force, he probably bent his lightsaber around Han to only make it look like he killed his father.

Why would he do that, you ask? Well obviously because he is a double agent working for the Resistance to ultimately bring down Snoke. He had to appear to kill his father so no one would questions his alleigance.

Reddit can be a fun place sometimes.

Oh, yeah. That one is out there, though the bent light saber is a new twist. It astounds me that comic book geeks actively root for garbage twists like that.

While I don't believe that theory one bit, I admit, that as Han fell down the hole, my first thought was "No dead body means he's still alive." However, given Ford's desire to give Solo a hero's death, and the need to turn the trilogy over to younger blood, yeah, I think it's far more likely that Han is dead. It gives the rest of the trilogy higher stakes and a heightened sense of danger, as we now know that Luke, Leia and Chewie all face the real possibility of death.

The desire to experience a good/plausible story is trumped by the need to be able to say "I knew it all along."

It's just not Abrams' way. On LOST, he was always clear that dead means dead.
