Militia seizes Federal building

Making a big deal about it being "SEDITION!" is the the intellectual kin of yelling about how the San Bernadino shootings were ISIS terrorism or calling the president by his middle name.

It's technically correct by denotation, but it is being invoked because of the much more serious connotation that doesn't really apply.

They have no ability to pose a meaningful threat to the rule of law of the United States government. They are a dozen or two doofuses holing up in a glorified shack in the middle of nowhere. This needs to be taken seriously, but using a word that calls to mind an open civil war from a credible threat makes it sound more ominous than it is. They are not a threat to anyone who doesn't happen to be wandering by that very remote shack at any given time.

 

Have to assume those calling for immediate action against the seditious traitor scum are calling for others to do the dirty work, which is the same argument the screamers made against military action in the Middle East.

 

I *hate* the endless go-around of "No, you're a hypocrite!" but the similarities in reaction are striking.

Agree. At the same time, there has never in my lifetime been a larger group of idiots screaming, organizing and arming themselves to fight federal government "TYRANNY!" plus you have the Old Tonys of the world cheering them on. These folks need to be mocked more than feared, but the split second one of these clowns raises a gun against federal or local officials, he needs to become a harsh example of what happens when you pull that kind of crap.
