Well, if Trump paid them to ask the question, I withdraw my criticism.

It's only a "dumb" answer if it hurts him.

He wants to win. If the media set him up for a "golly gee, I don't know, maybe it could be an issue" answer, he's going to give it to them.

I honestly don't see why that's some indictment of Trump.

Did he do anything differently that Hillary did when asked about Obama's religion:

"You don't believe that Senator Obama's a Muslim?” Kroft asked Sen. Clinton.

“Of course not. I mean, that, you know, there is no basis for that. I take him on the basis of what he says. And, you know, there isn't any reason to doubt that,” she replied.

“You said you'd take Senator Obama at his word that he's not…a Muslim. You don't believe that he's…,” Kroft said.

“No. No, there is nothing to base that on. As far as I know,” she said.

Oh, that's not true at all. It is, however, a big part of the problem - that such a large segment of America is dumb enough to buy all the dumb shit he says.

So nothing he says in an interview counts, only what he says in his carefully-scripted remarks at rallies he controls? That's one hell of a forgiving standard.

Tim Hardaway was the victim when he went on and on about how much he hates gay people. He'd have never said it if the meanypants media didn't ask him the question.

Yeah. Yeah. Or the gay hating pizza parlor lady.

And, if Trump had said Cruz was ineligible to be President, maybe the analogy would rise above the Baron level.

LOL. Have you watched a Trump rally? They're anything but scripted.

The point is simply that Trump is not the one raising the issue.

And, it's not like Trump shies away from issues. If he wanted to go after Trump on this, he has plenty of opportunities.

This is a media driven issue.

And he still wants to fuck his daughter.

What Trump did was actually worse, because he obviously wanted to say it but hid behind the "people are just CONCERNED" stuff.

For someone who supposedly has giant stones, he certainly gets a little wishy-washy when it comes to Cruz.

    Which is true.

I don't get it. Do you really think Dems wouldn't raise the issue if he were the nominee?

The question was raised in John McCain's case:

McCain's Birth Abroad Stirs Legal Debate

    http://www.nytimes.com/2008/02/28/us/politics/28mccain.html

And, while every reasonable person seemed to agree that he was eligible, that didn't stop the nut cases:

Why is no one questioning John McCain's Birth Certificate? - Democratic Underground

The Bombshell on McCain's Birth Certificate

Without question, Baron will argue that he's not eligible (of course he'll claim to be using some reverse, Republican logic while making that determination).

Cruz's case is less clear than McMcain's, though I believe it is still clear. But it will be an issue. And, it will be the media and the Dems making it.

It's the media making it now.

All of that may be true.

None of it absolves Trump of revisiting birtherism.

And, it was long settled when it was brought up with McCain, and it's long settled now, which makes any candidate who comments on it look even dumber.

OK. Fine. Trump should have given a different/better answer.

But, the media is playing this for all its worth, and deserves equal criticism.
