A few years back, covered 40 industrial workers who each chipped in five bucks and won a $170 million powerball. What was fascinating was the back-and-forth of "coverage horse trading" that I entered into just to do a story.

Eventually agreed to meet them at the grocery store where they bought the winning ticket and they let me show their faces and interview some of them as long as we didn't use their names to respect their privacy. The three "talkers" of the group were great -- two of them live in my neighborhood and still do (instead of moving to a mansion).

A year later, I caught up with some of them at a restaurant for a folo. They all had gigantic brand-new pickup trucks.

When people who have hard jobs (they worked in food processing) are able to leave that life behind, I always smile because it was "the dream" come true. Hope most of them have made good decisions.

If I ever did win a prize of this magnitude, I'd take about $10 million off the top and give the rest away, largely to strangers.

I'd pay 100 people to follow DOnald Trump around and blow air horns every time he opens his mouth. And I'd watch on a TV the size of ATT Stadiums Jumbotron in my recreation of Versailles on a private Island in the Carribeaan that I'm buying. Being waited on by the Sun Tropic girls

I'd buy OOP, Old Tony and Baron, strap them to three facing chairs, and televise it.

I would be sorely tempted to make a public statement, something along the lines of . . .

"I intend to give away a large amount of this windfall I was fortunate to win. The only people or organizations automatically disqualified from receiving anything are those who ask for something."

I have always said this would be a pillar of my philosophy should I be so fortunate.
