Super Bowl 50

Discussion in 'Sports and News' started by Songbird, Jan 26, 2016.

  1. Can you cite an example of one guy - just one - who's says Bubba is being Bubba and then criticizes Cam Newton's presser?
I suspect the people who think these guys are immature asshats (raises hand) do so, regardless of color.
I think you are going to be hard-pressed to find one media person who's all about Saban, Belichick and Bubba and anti-Serena and Newton. Pricks are pricks.
It's a nice narrattive, but I don't think you are correct. If you can find one, I'll acquiesce.

As noted, Newton has always been a sore loser. He's just lost this year with a lot less frequency.

Bill Romanowski is asshat of the highest order.

Bullshit. It should embarrass one person, Cam. It doesn't embarrass you. You, like many others, have enjoyed it. It gives us something to self-righteously scold, mock and debate on all the talking head shows today. Far more entertainment value than if he'd just spewed the usual empty clichés.

Its kinda funny that 99% of the talk is about nothing that actually occurred on the field.

IT should embarrass those who reveled in his joyous and fun loving approach to the game. You can't hold him up as an exemplar of the modern athlete and ignore his behavior when it doesn't fit your opinion of him.

He is both, the kind of player who aggressively rubs his winning in the faces of the losers and the a sullen and immature loser. He is, at least honest.

Hey, but Bill Laimbeer was a dick 25 years ago when post-game press conferences were rarely televised live.

Game sucked, except for Sack. Strip. Fumble. That was the action. With that defense Osweiler could have put up 35 points

And we're sitting here right now saying what immature pricks they were. Kinda proves my point.

You know as well as I do certain pricks don't get called out as much as others. Hell, they've made Saban's outbursts - many times at questions that haven't even been asked - comedic fodder. How many times was Larry Bird standoffish with the press and people just shrugged.

I'll spell it out again. He. Didn't. Speak. To. The Media. He didn't scream at anyone. He didn't tell anyone their question was stupid. He didn't yell for three minutes about how "HE'S A MAN! He's FORTY!" He sat for three minutes and gave disinterested answers to disinterested questions. He's not obligated to dance, just obligated to make himself available to people to dance.

I think black men and QBs whose teams lose big games are both categories society loves to crap on.

BitterYoungMatador2 getting upset by name calling is hysterical.

Any woman he doesn't like is a clam or a pig, but he perceives racism in any criticism of an African-American.

So you give Cam that leeway but not the others you mentioned. Noted. Must be a race thing.

I'm in Boston there's more than a handful of writers in my Twitter feed that don't say a peep about Belichick and have commented about Newton's.

Lots of people outside Boston criticize Bill all the time for his act and those people have every right to criticize Cam too.

It's not about "the media" or about "dancing." It's about human decency. It really shouldn't be a big deal to these guys to be polite. Treating others like people shouldn't be something that must be "expected."
