RIP Antonin Scalia

If all the circumstances were the same - Scalia dies, same amount of time till the presidential election, Republicans holding the Senate, but the President was a Republican, would we still be hearing about how there can be no nominee to replace him until after the upcoming election from the Republicans? No way in heck. The Democrats would pull out any argument they could, probably including this one, but the Republicans would make a nomination, hold hearings, and swear in the next Supreme Court Justice.

That being so, and you know damn well it is, all of this is just political sparring for advantage.

What Obama should do is offer up an ultra-conservative candidate. Then the Republicans agree to confirm him, only, on April 1, Obama withdraws the nomination and says, "April Fools".

This post perfectly encapsulates both your intellect and maturity.

These conspiracies get realer and realer. From WaPo:

Conspiracy theories swirl around the death of Antonin Scalia

"As a former homicide commander, I am stunned that no autopsy was ordered for Justice Scalia," William O. Ritchie, former head of criminal investigations for D.C. police, wrote in a post on Facebook on Sunday.

...
"How can the Marshal say, without a thorough post mortem, that he was not injected with an illegal substance that would simulate a heart attack…"

"Did the US Marshal check for petechial hemorrhage in his eyes or under his lips that would have suggested suffocation? Did the US Marshal smell his breath for any unusual odor that might suggest poisoning? My gut tells me there is something fishy going on in Texas."

=====

The Pelican Brief was the best Grisham book, by far.

The family didn't ask for an autopsy and the people who handled the case didn't see the need for one.
