Apparently, "they did it too" does justify pretty much anything. Otherwise, why would people use that defense so much?
In fact, next time a cop stops me (assuming my car is actually capable of exceeding the speed limit), I'll tell the cop about all the cars going just as fast or faster that he didn't stop and the axe murderer down the street that he can't be bothered investigating.
Maybe that will get me out of a ticket.

As opposed to the "We get to do it but you don't" argument. The true definition of an elitist class.

I'm sorry that Scalia had to die, but it was almost worth it for the entertainment value of this thread.

I sincerely doubt you're the least bit sorry, Ace.

Not quite. The alternative is that it's objectively wrong, but once the other side goes to the gutter, if you decide to remain noble, you're a sucker who's going to lose every time. Play nice until you get screwed; then play by the new rules you didn't ask for but were forced into.

Old bigoted man in a position of power dies... If Republicans won't confirm someone for Obama, I hope Hillary nominates Obama for the post.

To me, what's also nutty about the GOP's strategy is that there is a decent chance that they lose the Senate because they're defending 24 seats, some of them in states that Obama had won, and the Democrats are defending just 10, many of them in safely blue states.

So, let's say the Democrats take over the Senate, and we get President Trump. What's to prevent the Democrats from saying that the people elected them for the Senate, and they won't hold any hearings for any of Trump's nominees for the next two years because the Republicans set the precedent of not holding hearings? So now, it's three years of an 8-maybe even a 7- person Supreme Court if someone else retires or dies.

The GOP isn't thinking of future unintended consequences again. Big mistake.

That you think there's an election scenario in which the Democrats pick up five Senate seats yet lose to Trump (or any GOP candidate) says all we need to know about your political acumen.
