If we're truly doing it up soccer-style, it should be Spartan Squad 1-1 fossywriter8.

It's not my favorite sport. I can appreciate the athleticism of the players, but I just don't find it to be the grand, majestic game others do.
As for ties, I feel if you're going to allow them, you might as well not even keep score; just hand out participation ribbons with the orange slices.
When I'm watching or playing a sport, I want a winner.

Don't worry, I wasn't going to judge if you said you hated soccer. It's the black coffee of sports: You either like it your you don't. I guess I never thought about games ending in ties too much (probably because it meant I can literally set my watch to when I can leave a high school soccer game and not worry about an elongated overtime).

Where I will agree with you on the ties is in championships. The Central Coast Section in California allows soccer teams to end a CHAMPIONSHIP GAME in a tie. You get two overtimes and if no one scores, it's over. No PKs, no keep playing until someone dies, just a tie. That bugs the crap out of me. You play an entire regular season and get though three rounds of playoffs only to be co-champs. And a tie is not a rare occurrence.

In 2014, Ohio's high school state final in hockey ended in a 1-1 tie. Granted, that came after seven — SEVEN — overtimes.
According to the state athletic association, both coaching staffs and administrators reached a mutual decision to have it end in a tie "due to concerns for player safety," but it upset a lot of fans because they were anticipating an eighth OT and the decision didn't come until just before the eighth overtime was to start.
By national rule, there was no shootout procedure.
It was the longest game in state finals history, and the second-longest in state history. The longest was an eight-overtime game in 2007.
State officials have since changed the OT policy for district and state games.
Now there will be a maximum of five eight-minute overtime periods, with sudden death scoring. The first OT period will have 5-on-5, with the rest being 4-on-4. If it's still tied after that, it goes to a shootout.

I don't like the shootout. I'd rather have a tie.

In 1999, the CIF-SS football championship game between Southern California powerhouses Mater Dei and Long Beach Poly ended in a 21-21 tie at Angel Stadium. The players wanted to send the refs home and finish the game in the parking lot.
The OC Register usually asks a coach who played both teams to provide pregame analysis. In this case, the coach actually predicted it would be a 21-21 tie. It was on the record in print. He should have been playing the lottery.

People who are visible but show themselves as "busy" on gchat. Seriously? If you don't want to be bothered, sign the eff out.

I rarely use gchat, but I see these people as "busy" and wonder why they're on gchat.

Whenever my wife strips the sheets from our bed, she doesn't put on a fresh set.

That means I end up running around at midnight trying to find clean sheets when I'm just ready to sleep.
