Even then, not every conference used the line, or even the same line, that season. The shot clock, and what it was set for, wasn't universal either.

Plus, Della's point was that Curry has spent his entire life with the line there, whereas Jordan didn't. I still think Jordan would have been highly effective now though; like James Harden but better? I'm not sure what the comparison would be. Jordan drew a crazy amount of fouls in the 90s, with those rules, so it's hard to imagine how many free throws he would shoot now.

We're not out of February yet and the Dubs' magic number for clinching a playoff berth is 2.

The NCAA adopted a uniform 3-point line in the 1986-87 season and a uniform shot clock in 1985-86. (I didn't know this, but women's college basketball had a 30-second shot clock as early as 1969.)

I think it's 3 right now (pending the end of the Orlando game). Houston is 23.5 back with 26 to play for Warriors. The radio guy for the Warriros can't clinch a berth tonight.

True that. I was helping in the SID's office at the time and the work/study girl asked me before every game which rules we were using that night. And, yes, Jordan would have found a way.

Just as an aside, Before becoming a pro, Michael Jordan took 76 three-pointers in an actual game during that sophomore season mentioned for his entire three-year college career. He made 44.7 percent. Curry MADE 414 in his three college seasons (he attempted 1,004)

And since we're talking Curry threes, he will break his own record for threes in a season next week, with 22 still to go. He's now 25th all time in threes and could be 20th by the end of the season

Except that experimental line the ACC used during MJ's sophomore season was only 17'9". It was ridiculously short. That percentage doesn't tell us much when you're talking about barely more than free throw distance.

Curry with 51 last night. I don't care much for the NBA, but I'm kind of mesmerized by what Curry is doing. And he seems to have so much fun playing, it's contagious.

Wednesday night he made a 40-footer to end the first quarter. Thursday night he banked one in from halfcourt to end the first half.

During February he has played 308 minutes and scored 321 points.
