If they were really looking for an outlet for their racism, wouldn't they vote for the old white guy, who's made immigration his signature issue, over the Cuban guy?

I think at this point all the mainstream Republicans have left is a two week window to try to find a way to deny Trump a first vote majority. Beyond that, it's working on the delegates state by state to try to either place delegates that they can influence or to persuade existing delegates to jigger the system. Even if they are bound to a first ballot vote for Trump, they can vote for rules changes, a different chairman, etc. to try to alter the landscape.

You're taking it maybe a step too far. I'm saying racism/xenophobia is already baked into their support of Cruz. So those voters aren't necessarily looking. A vote for Cruz is a vote for voter suppression, hateful immigration policies, and every other issue that would be on the other side of good race relations.

But, since we're talking about it ... Cubans have always positioned themselves (and been seen) as different from the "other" minorities. This is familiar to anyone who has spent time in South Florida. It's part of why the GOP can always count on the Cuban vote. There was a black boycott of tourism businesses in Miami in the early '90s based on the Cuban community's rejection of a Nelson Mandela proclamation, and the divide exists to this day.

How Trump deals with the #NeverTrump folks will be interesting.

Does he reach out to them, and somehow give them a reason to take back their vow to never vote for him, or does he blast them, proving his outsider status?

My biggest question, now that a Trump presidency is inevitable, is: Who is going to be First Lady?

You know he's got to be itching for an upgrade.

Can she be both First Lady and Chief Justice of the Supreme Court?
