Romney was always fighting an uphill battle, but it was generally agreed he cleaned Obama's clock in the first debate and had a lot of momentum coming out of it. If he'd kept pushing, who knows what happens.
Instead he pulled a McCain and basically did nothing the next six weeks while Obama got serious and upped his game. It was the political equivalent of running the opening kickoff back for a touchdown and then losing 35-7.

Last cycle, Newt stuck around due to Super PAC money.

Who's still alive this time around due to a Super PAC? Jeb! didn't even make it to Super Tuesday.

 

I know YF and others here are able to look past some of it, but Trump really does come off like a fool with the name-calling and insults. The dick joke was kind of subversive and funny and disarming on this stage. Shouting "Little Marco" over and over again was embarrassing.

 

That flies in March. It won't fly in September.
