If Trump supporters or endorsers list "securing the borders" as item No. 1 in why they like Trump, you've got to wonder what's behind that.

A lot of what Trump espouses to "Make America Great Again" sound like the 70s era Soviet Union.

Walls. silencing the press, propaganda, state religion.

I have never argued that his message is not appealing to racists.

Damn, we haven't had the tweet hanging Cruz with the nickname Booger yet.

    But it's early.

He wasn't supposed to be the GOP frontrunner, either.

"Make America Great Again" is code for the empty promise that 1950s and 60s manufacturing hegemony can be regained while simultaneously reversing automation, making unskilled American labor uniquely well-compensated.

That's lazy analysis at it's best. "Something improbable happened, therefore anything can happen, therefore everything is equally likely."

I didn't say it was equally likely, I said he could turn those states. People have been underestimating him this entire election cycle, predicting his demise at every step. Sounds a lot like saying Trump has no chance in the general election, because he had no chance in the GOP primary process.

I've heard New York mentioned, on the theory that he'll dominate the suburbs and upstate vote and do well enough in New York City based on his celebrity and native son status to break even.
If he can do that and steal back Florida and one other swing state, he's home.

Better on a hat than Make America Whole Again. Or is it Hole?

But here's the thing: Those people haven't underestimated him. They've consistently pinned his support right where it's stayed. What they missed was the scenario where that support level would be enough to win the Republican nomination.

If there's some magical hidden scenario that nobody is seeing where he can turn 44% into an electoral college victory, then god bless him. But his improbable seizure of the Republican nomination has had zero to do with underestimating his appeal. His appeal has been accurately estimated all along.

Hey, you should let the GOP leadership know that they are acting the fools for trying to stop Trump; sounds like he has the election in the bag.

Based on this and previous posts you've made on the topic of the election, you need to change your reading habits.

New York has not gone less than 58 percent Democrat since 1992, when Clinton won 49 percent yet still won the state by 16 percentage points (the Perot effect).
