What is the worst he could finish in the popular vote against Hillary, do we think? What is his floor, assuming no third-party candidate? I would guess 45-46 percent?

 

So dominant that Republicans have won the popular vote once since his ascent.

You can't overestimate his influence on the medium.

 

McCain pulled 45.7%. It's definitely below that. Probably somewhere around 42.

 

Against Obama.

Yes. Without the racism holding him down, Obama probably would have won by a lot more.

 

I doubt it.
Obama and HRC both have a hard core of committed supporters, and corresponding hard core of utterly irrational enemies.
My guess is the two groups are roughly comparable.

 

Trump has gotten a lot of mileage out of a non-traditional campaign by using the media. His traditional campaign staff, state by state, isn't that great. He's going to need the GOP apparatus for GOTV or he's got problems. I'm not convinced there are that many old school Republican volunteers who are going to be willing to bust their humps working to get Trump into the White House.

 

In 2012, Obama won the female vote over Romney, 56-44.

I wonder what the spread will be between Hillary and Trump? 65-35? Bigger than that?
