Seeing Elton John soon. Rare big-nane show for me. I'd be happy if he stayed in the '70s, but I know his catalogue demands more. Anyone here seen him lately and have any insight on his setlist?

I could have ignored you like you ignored me Monday night on the Yahoo! board.

    But I didn't.

Speaking of EJ, I think I saw him in the 70s, but I can't remember. This is no surprise.

Billy Joel last night at Madison Square Garden, his monthly performance. Mrs. OOP managed to get us free tickets. We didn't even realize her connection got us seats in a suite until we got there, but any seat would have been great.

I'd never seen him in concert. Great experience. The biggest cheer of the night may have come when he reminded the crowd. "I don't have any new shit for you."

He did have a surprise. Itzhak Pearlman joined him on stage for three songs. I didn't realize Pearlman was on the first recording of "River of Dreams."

I'm exhausted. Going to be a very long day and it is so worth it for those couple of hours with Mrs. OOP and all those old songs. A lovely, early birthday gift from my bride.

The last 20-plus years of Billy Joel are both disappointing and kind of admirable. He decided that he has nothing more to say, so he puts out no new music. He's perfectly content to cash healthy checks by playing his hits just like they sound on the albums. Having said that, the show is fun (if not ground breaking) and the crowds go home thrilled.

Check your Ticketmaster accounts. You might have some free shows coming to you.

They finally got around to posting the available shows today. There's some decent ones in there, but only if you live in certain areas. Lots of shows in New Jersey, Virginia, North Carolina, Atlanta, Indiana, Nashville, California and Phoenix. I got one free set of tickets from the settlement, but since I don't live within a six-hour drive of any of those places it doesn't do me a whole lot of good.

Here's the list of eligible shows for the freebies:

Only one that looked interesting that would be doable was Tedeschi-Trucks Band July 23 at Alpharetta, GA.

It's worth it to check back regularly. I looked again late last night and there were more shows listed than there were earlier in the evening, and in more places. Still none close to me, but maybe some will get added as they go.
