Trump cheats at golf - the ONE and ONLY politics thread

That was my first intuition last night, as well, sans the involvement of the Vice Lords and Gangster Disciples.

 

YF, he's not a liberal, but he's arguably a yellow dog Democrat.

 

UIC isn't exactly the West Side. It's on Halsted. (Just west of the loop.) The area around it isn't bad.

Obviously he could have held a rally in a suburb, which would have been much more receptive to him, and drawn fewer protesters.

Any public university campus would have lots of people ready, willing, and able to protest Trump.

UIC demographics only add to that.

 

He's pretty liberal.

I guess he's for a strong national defense, which makes him rare among liberals. By his own words, he's a liberal.

 

He favors charter schools, denounces teachers unions, denounces Islam, is pro-life, pro-gun rights, etc.

 

Sure. Now, he does.

 

"His" message is no different than that which has been the GOP's for quite some time. It's presented with a high level of fame and charisma and without veneer (favoring air horns over dog whistles), but it is the same at its core. To denounce Trump's message is to denounce what the party has been touting - and the voters they have been courting - for decades.

 

After watching last night's Chicago spectacle, the only assets the low-information left has on the low-information Trump backers are trendier glasses, more updated iPhones and post-graduate degrees.

 

Trump's angry, xenophobic, anti-immigrant, anti-Muslim messaging has been in line with conservative orthodoxy, but that's about it from a policy standpoint.
