If they lied more convincingly, they'd be Democrats.

The bottom line is that they want a conservative justice to replace Scalia. They hope that the next president is a Republican or at least Republicanish, so they are refusing to consider anyone.

It's not about the will of the people. The people voted for Obama.

They are trying to make something out of the ordinary seem ordinary and are blaming Obama for playing "politics."

They have twisted themselves into such a knot here they look foolish -- especially considering what's coming down the road after the election.

Too many stupid people in this country to get what you are correctly stating. Since Reagan, this country has just become so ignorant that within 3 generations, this country will be little more than 150,000,000 people looking for their next meal.

Regardless of how he looks, the bigger question is why are we letting someone from Kentucky?

Proper process -- Hold a 10-minute hearing, where the only question Senators ask of Garland is, "Who nominated you?"

When he answers, thank him for his time, hold a vote, vote no, move on.

Honestly, I'm shocked the establishment GOP wants to risk letting Clinton or Trump pick the next justice when they've got this gift of a choice.

They can just vote the next one down, though, if they don't like it. It's not like they're stuck with him/her.

Arguably, Obama gifted them with Garland, because now they can say, "See? It's a perfectly reasonable pick, but as we've said from the beginning, we're taking this stand on principle, not the politics of the moment."

You also have to figure the GOP is defending seats in Wisc., NH, Ill., Ohio and Fla. and the Judiciary chair (Grassley) is up in Iowa. Is it worth possibly losing control of the Senate AND risking ending up with a more liberal justice?
