Of course Konerko was the far superior player.

LaRoche simply had a similar skill set and a couple Konerko-like seasons.

I'd hate to have that brat in my workplace 12 hours a day.

I'm sure your workplace is similar to a MLB clubhouse.

I think he meant Chris Sale.

Its not. There's a million different workplace environments. And there isn't one where I want your kid around me 24/7, JC.

And this is why so many compare this to our jobs. Take away the romance of baseball and family bonding, any HR person worth their weight in paperwork will tell you this is a workplace issue.

Dick- Not really. Konerko was a more patient hitter, a better hitter and better fielder.
Konerko was a star, LaRoche has been a member of the supporting cast with good teams on the back end of his career

    Konerko's career BB%: 9.7 percent
    LaRoche's career BB%: 10.2 percent

LaRoche struck out a lot more, though. Maybe he was too damn patient.

Saw some os Sale's comments, and damn, he didn't hold a whole lot back. Good for him. I tend to side with having some limits on the kid being around, but the kid seems to be well liked and may be an exception. Let the players and manager decide. Leaning more toward this being a ploy after they didn't see what they hoped to see in spring training.

I doubt it was a ploy to force him into retirement. I suspect they were probably quite surprised that he elected the nuclear option. My guess is that they - well, Kenny Williams - didn't think that LaRoche's focus was on doing what he needed to do to earn $13 million.

He put LaRoche in a tough spot. Although it wasn't a complete ban, it would have been uncomfortable for LaRoche every time he had him around. I mean, what was the limit? Was an entire homestand OK? A series? A game here and there?
