Is there a reason YF is referring to Nightengale using quotation marks? Are we doubting Nightengale's existence or something?

He's not referring to "Nightengale" using quotation marks. He's referring to "Bob."

Woodward and Bernstein confirmed everything that Deep Throat told them.

But Bob, the USA Today baseball writer, should get a blank check.

Funny to see Dick arguing that "why" is irrelevant. :D

    Right. Bob Nightengale.

Oh, and for the record, I agree it was shoddy reporting.

Oh, for sure, and I've been critical of that.

But, in the USA Today column, we don't even have a quote that is passed along to Bob, through White Sox management and baseball officials.

In this game of telephone, all we ended up with was a vague report of complaints.

We don't know what the baseball officials told "Bob". We don't know what White Sox management told baseball officials. We don't know what White Sox players and staff told management.

We really have less than nothing. We don't even know if "Bob" knows who the original, or second Hans source is.

His "multiple sources" could all be based on one source with Sox management.

This morning David Haugh and Brian Hanley were on the radio repeating Nightengale's reporting as fact.
