Ok, call it whatever you like, but I like vodka with a splash of vermouth and extra olives.

You can't always get into St. Elmo's, though. The place next door is good, too. Same ownership, I believe.

    You mean a vodka martini?

Dick doesn't believe there's any such thing, which I'm willing to accept as long as I can still have a nice vodka with a splash of vermouth and a few olives.

There was a poutine expert on All Things Considered a few weeks ago when Obama hosted Trudeau for a state dinner because there was a poutine appetizer on the menu. Anyway, the expert claimed that it is properly pronounced "poo-tin" rather than the more common "poo-teen" because it derives from French.

I think I've told this here before, but we don't have Golden Corral near where we live and used to see the commercials all the time. My son, who was 11 at the time, was excited to visit one when we were in Oklahoma. He hated it and that kid would eat anything.

Nope. I've never been to Bamonte's. Can't believe I haven't, but it sounds like dozens of old world Italian places I generally love (I'm from Staten Island) where there's a certain pace and ritual about the meal -- from the clams casino to the salad to the pasta to the main dish, a couple bottles of Chianti to wash it all down then perhaps a biscuit tortoni for dessert with an espresso corretto.

Poutine is on pretty much every fast food menu across the country up here and there are specialized shops outside of Montreal which is where it began.

Montreal is the best Canadian city to eat in, especially on company money.

Duck fat fries with real curds and home made gravy, still haven't had a Poutine that good anywhere.

Well, no, I think it was more like poo-TIN. We probably need a ruling from Iron_chet.

It was only time I've been in Tampa, so I know mostly nothing about the city. I just remember all the signs along the way so you didn't get lost. Seemed like a pretty seedy area you had to go through to get there.
No, I haven't lived a sheltered life, but I don't regularly visit ghettos.
