It's one of those things that almost dares sportswriters to come up with reasons why it is a "perfect fit." Alum? No. Grew up in the area? No. Spent any time in the area? No. Young and upcoming coach? No. Tulane fitting the profile of a previous team he improved? No.

    That's comparing a Mercedes to a Dodge.

If Tulane hired Dunleavy and he was on their list, I would have to assume that Kevin Loughery, Gene Shue, George Karl, the late Cotton Fitzsimmons, Bernie Bickerstaff, Rick Adelman, Paul Silas, PJ Carlesimo, that O'Brien guy from BC, Doug Collins, Rudy T, Paul Westhead, Paul Westphal all were contacted and said no.

You left off Mike Schuler, Doug Moe, Ron Rothstein and Del Harris.

And I hope all mail as addressed "that O'Brien guy at BC."

I forgot to include Harris. The others didn't always seem to pop open seemingly every lousy job during their prime.

Jimmy O'Brien at BC was actually an okay coach. The administration sandbagged him on a couple recruits, then he went to The Ohio State and got himself into some trouble. He's now coaching at a D-3 in Boston (Emerson).
