Amazing to me that Pitt hired so soon. Can't they do better ? With that student environment and a great conference, it would seem odd.

Pitt was a great job when the school was in the Big East but it's just a mid- to low-level gig in the ACC.

    LMFAO!!!!!!

This hire is boring, lazy, uncreative, and hasty. In other words: typical Pitt. Remember, these asshats immediately quit searching and just hired top assistant Dixon when their first choice, Skip Prosser, turned them down in 2003. They have no stomach for this shit, probably because they suck so much ass at it. They've been amazingly lucky with the last two basketball hires. I won't get into the football hires because I don't currently have access to blood pressure medication.

I think Skip Prosser in his current state would be a better hire than this underachieving redass.

Of the 10 coaches in the Big 12 now:

    Two have NCAA championships.
Six have coached in Final Fours.
Eight have been to the Elite Eight.
Nine have coached in the Sweet 16.

The other one is Brad Underwood, who has won his conference every year he's been a head coach.

I'm too lazy to look to see if it's been noted before on this thread that Rick Stansbury, one-time Blitz nemesis, has taken over the esteemed Hilltopper program in Bowling Green.

Shelden Jeter is even more pissed about Stalling's hire than you are; he's the Vandy player who hated Stallings, asked to transfer to Pitt, and Stallings blocked it and the kid had to go to a JC -- where he never played basketball, so as not to use up a year of eligibility when he finally made it to Pitt. Where he'll be playing for Stallings. D'oh.

Reminds me of a story on Clear Channel in Rolling Stone about 10 years ago. IIRC, Clear Channel bought a rock station in Atlanta and immediately fired the program director. He eventually got another PD job in Birmingham, but two years later, Clear Channel bought that station...and fired him again.

If by nemesis you mean hagiographer, then sure.

Once Vanderbilt makes its hire, will the carousel stop for the silly season?

    Herb Sendek back in business.

Sources: Santa Clara hires Sendek as new coach

Lavin's name keeps coming up for the USF job. Both programs -- all subpar WCC programs, really -- are still experiencing ringing in their ears after Mark Few ripped them for bringing down the conference RPI.
