I like Karen's character overall, too, especially the hints at guilt over something in her past. I just think they are trying too hard to shove her into a different role, one that should have been filled by somebody else.

 

Foggy and Karen were among my favorites parts in season one, haven't started two yet but that's disappointing to hear they're going down the tubes

 

I don't think they are. Sorry if this wasn't clear. I'm trying to avoid spoilers and that makes it hard to properly react to the changes in Karen's character.

I may be biased. I've always been fond of the character of Ben Urich in the comics and I thought they played him well in the series. I get why they killed him off, but I still disagree with the decision and some of the dominoes that fell from his loss had a big impact on Karen in Season 2.

 

My little ones didn't like the movie. They liked Ant-Man better.
Unlike Poop, I made them justify why the movie stinks, as a critical thinking exercise.
I would love to see a Shazam film instead of this garbage.

 

What did they say? And how little are these farts?

I haven't seen it yet, but it doesn't really look like a kid-friendly movie. Also, a lot of people I know that said they were excited to see the movie have been turned off by the reviews. It is getting harder and harder to find someone to go see it with me. This may end up being a solo afternoon matinee.

If lived in Tim Burton's or this director's vision of Metropolis or Gotham City, I'd move the f out.
Compare these kinds of films to the sense of hope we got from the Christopher Reeve films (yes, even Superman 4 had its moments), Dean Cain, Kirk Alyn and the late, great George Reeves.
Heck, even Supergirl.



Superman should stand for truth, justice and the American way. Every representation of our better angels.
An idealized vision of a world where all live in peace, prosperity and freedom from want, fear or oppression, something we as a nation should strive for in reality.
Not a dark, brooding chap who doubts his own strengths and abilities and, deep down, fears himself.
This is not the Superman I idolized as a boy.

I totally agree with you about this Zack Snyder version of Superman. Seems like he tried too hard to go full Christopher Nolan/Dark Knight gritty because that worked so well for Batman. As you said, that brooding, insecure Superman is not the Superman I know. All he needs is a chain wallet and black fingernails and he's full emo.

But I was wondering what your little ones specifically didn't like about it. I have no kids (by choice) or access to kids (by law), so the opinion of a kid who didn't necessarily grow up with these characters interests me. Do they have the same connection to Bats and Supes as you? And is that why they didn't like it?

 

Some movies deserve critical thinking. The Lego Movie? Well, maybe you need the help with that one given the level of humor you display on this board.

 

Nobody cares what you or your kid thought of the Lego Movie.
Ty Webb, it sucks to see Superman wimpified in an age of wimpification.
Even Kevin Smith, whose art I don't care for, said the movie has no heart.

 

You clearly care or you wouldn't still be whining about it.

Like Kevin Smith's films or not, he has a very good fanboy's sense of comic book characters and other nerd culture.
