I understand that's what Bork has in his book. Doesn't REMOTELY mean that Nixon offered him a seat among the Supremes "in exchange for" showing Cox the door. Not even in the ballpark.

Dude, you can wiggle all you want, but you're wrong here.

Once again, what was the "huge difference" in your comparison?

Yay! You came up with a new cheap buzzword.

If my boss calls me in and says, "Congrats, you're getting a promotion, and the first thing you have to do is fire two people, or else." Then, after I reluctantly do the firing, he calls me in and says, "Thanks for doing that. Next time there's an opening on the Executive Committee, I'll put you on there."

That's not getting rewarded in exchange for doing something?

That's not what happened -- at least no one has reported it happening that way -- and I'm not talking to you about this anymore.

Nixon orders Richardson to fire Cox. Richardson refuses. Is Nixon going to just let Richardson refuse and stay on? Hell no. So Richardson, rather than get fired, quits.

    Ruckleshaus does the same thing.

So now it's Bork's turn. He's left with either obeying his boss' order, quit, or get himself fired. The other guys tell him not to quit, so his choice is either obey, or get fired. He chooses to obey.

The same night he obeys his boss, his boss brings him into the office and promises him a reward. Had he not obeyed his boss, would his boss have promised him a reward? Hell no. And even after his boss promised him the reward, did he tell his boss that he wasn't interested in being rewarded for what he had to do? Hell no.

Hey, you're the one who asked what I wanted you to admit to. I was willing to let it go and just let you continue to look foolish with your "Democrats love ISIS" screeds. But nooo ...
