What's interesting is that I find prostitution far more unambiguously morally acceptable than abortion.

Although I am of a like mind, if my experience is any indication I bet you would find yourself in the middle of a serious shit-storm were you to share that sentiment with Mrs. W.

I've shared it with her, I think. I've at least challenged her on, "If it's my body, my choice, why is prostitution illegal?"

She doesn't particularly love to debate with me. She's quite comfortable not being able to defend her positions.

My sister-in-law is the one I have to keep my big fat trap shut around.

This weekend I made the grave error of announcing that I think it's reasonable that WTA players don't receive the same prize money as the men.

They put them on-line 'round here. A few years ago, in the lead-up to the Super Bowl, there were a couple of articles about the various cities in the region and how they do that. Out of curiosity I looked up those for my city. Lots of miserable-looking dudes, let me tell you. But one thing I noticed -- and I dug around a bit to make sure I was seeing what I thought I was seeing -- was how many of these guys' arrest reports had the same address for the incident. If, say there were 50 guys' mugs up there in a given month, close to half would be this one address. So I looked the address up and it's this really, really old motel on the old main drag (a mile or so south of the JerryDome/GlobeLife Park). And guys kept getting arrested there. I thought to myself, "Damn, didn't you guys ever think about checking this place out?"

I suspect she holds a couple of trump cards that make defending her positions not quite so necessary.

Oh, God, the in-laws. My wife's family was/is pretty political. I'm not usually the quiet type, but I spend a lot of time pondering my wineglass when I'm around them.

Yeah, they should try harder to not get raped.

That has nothing to do with it.

If your position is that the embryo or fetus is alive, then the only morally consistent position is that there should not be a rape or incest exception.

And this is something a victim should think about before she gets raped?

Can you turn off the imaginary Internet and then try really, really hard to read what I'm actually saying? And then respond to that.

What if you make hotdogs out of aborted zygotes and serve them covered in ketchup at Planned Parenthood fundraisers, do you get doubly judged?

Nope. Because it's their choice on whether or not to give their collections of cells a name.

    Choice. Isn't it wonderful?
