It isn't a dishonest argument. For those who believe life begins at conception, the choice is obvious. For those who believe something more nebulous, that choice is not obvious. The potential to become a human is not the automatic qualification for there being a human. You believe life begins at conception (or at least so you have argued) and that is fine. I, however, don't. At least it isn't a fully formed nor viable human. The ending of cell division (dammit I really wanted to not sound like Baron) isn't the same as ending a human's life. I respect those who have a different view on the matter. But looking at this from a nonreligious viewpoint and purely based on what I understand of science (which I'll admit isn't as much as I would like it to be), I take the opposite view and respect those choice of women who have exercised their rights to practice that view.

I love how I'm wrong when I use essentially the same definition as Merriam-Webster.

I don't think I've ever argued that I believe life begins at conception.

Oh, I understand perfectly well. Certain people believe that a pregnancy from rape is a blessing, so the rape victims shouldn't be having abortions because it's not the fetus' fault that the woman feels her pregnancy is a punishment.

But I think in order to make an honest argument, you have to acknowledge that other side, even just to quickly swat it away.

Forgive me if I read too much into what you have written, but based on the stance that you have taken with regards to whether a fetus has rights (or at least considerations) in terms of abortions has led me to that conclusion.

I think inherent to this whole debate is the consideration of a potential lifeā€”do you allow it to form to term or do you prevent it from forming to full term? I don't think it needs to always be acknowledged when discussing a woman's rights in terms of what to do after being raped.
