According to this, 30 percent of women suffer antepartum depression, which is depression during the pregnancy, with a third of them suffering severe depression. That's a mental condition connected to the pregnancy.

"I have repeatedly said that I think it's entirely appropriate for states to restrict or even prohibit late-term abortions as long as there is a strict, well-defined exception for the health of the mother. Now, I don't think that 'mental distress' qualifies as the health of the mother."

OK. He didn't say "mental health". But, what did he want the readers of Religion magazine to believe? He had to clear up what he said, since it concerned people.

    Correct.

    I have no idea.

Except we've seen Dems fight restrictions that they say they support in other cases.

They make a tortured argument that they don't think we should be taking away rights.

Your're the one defining it as extreme. And yes, if she announced suicidal thoughts, I would have her admitted to a mental health facility to make sure she wasn't going to kill herself.

Correct. Just as we've seen, as Baron pointed out yesterday, social conservatives who are on record that sex should only be used for procreation.

So I guess we can rightly attribute those views to Ted Cruz, Donald Trump, and John Kasich, as well.

They support a stance that is motivated by religion that says the main purpose of sex is procreation. Heck, in the book that the religion espouses, in the very first mention of sex, the deity commands the couple to be fruitful and multiply.

I haven't defined it as extreme. I'm just trying to figure out where people are on the issue.

And, just so we're clear: your position is that for a woman to be granted a mental health exemption to a partial birth abortion ban, she would have to declare an intent to kill herself if not permitted to have an abortion, and be involuntarily admitted to a mental health institution for a period of time, until medical professionals were confident she would not kill herself.

    Is that right?

I'd love to hear Hillary Clinton say that.

This is not what you said yesterday.

OK. So, how about we just ask the question.

We could use the Florida law I quoted. We could use other examples. Let's just ask them.

He was asked. Twice. You posted lengthy excerpts.

That was essentially what he was saying yesterday ...
