Because Dem voters know they're all extremists on the issue, and would never do anything to restrict abortion rights, no matter what they say to appease Right Wing Religious Nut Jobs.

And, the media doesn't want to expose/embarrass them on the issue.

It's the same as it was with gay marriage. All the Dems said they were "against" it in the past, but they all fought any effort to define marriage as a union between one man and one woman.

Advocating? No. Should it be an option for a woman, who is suffering from a debilitating condition, which could continue after the pregnancy and not be so temporary, in consultation with her doctor and anyone else she desires to,discuss it with? Yes.

OK. So, the woman does not have to declare an intent to kill herself, as you previously said?

So, as long as a doctor says her mental health could be "impacted", she's good to go? Is that where we are?

That's a restriction that amounts to nothing.

We're a few pages away from an endorsement of forced euthanasia.

I don't think that he said that. I think he used it as an example of something that would be a mental health issue that would justify termination of the pregnancy, but not as the outer bound.

    Precisely.

I just don't think they think about it. They have internalized this idea that pushing a Democrat on abortion is, essentially, doing the right's bidding. I think they think of it akin to asking about Benghazi.

Shouldn't patients and doctors have the final say on medical decisions? Or should politicians?

Ok yeah that's what I thought. You're insane and should walk away from this discussion. You should also understand that you're getting sucked into a conversation that doesn't reflect what actually happens.

    No. Health insurance companies should.

    Don't sugar-coat it, now.

Ok. So, that was only an extreme example.

So, how do we define such an exemption that makes any late term abortion ban mean anything?

Baron's now stated opinion on the matter makes any ban meaningless.

And, that's what Dems want. A ban that sounds good, but means nothing, once you include their exemptions.

But, without questioning on the matter, people think they are actually for late term abortion bans with minimal exceptions.
