And remember: Freedom of religion also means freedom from religion (and the religious right) if so desired.

Well, for one thing, the left has been playing this game for years, so I'm not sure why the left gets upset, defensive, and wants to shut down discussion as soon as the tables are turned on them.

    But, it's more than that.

The pro-life side believes that the fetus is a human life, that is valuable, and deserves the right to life.

As a matter of politics, compromises have been made to try and make progress on the issue, and so "common sense" compromises were made.

But, it turns out, many of the people making those compromises (on both the left, and the right) were lying to us. What was portrayed as meaningful protections for a fetus that was viable outside the womb has turned out to mean nothing.

And, politicians hid behind this meaningless compromise to portray themselves in a positive light; to portray themselves as moderate.

I just want words, backed up by action.

    Words by themselves are meaningless.

In South Carolina, for instance, an attending physician at the hospital, along with a consulting psychiatrist, have to certify that an abortion is medically necessary for the preservation of the woman's mental health.

    Code of Laws - Title 44 - Chapter 41 - Abortions

In some other states, just a doctor has to certify, using their judgment

Because the fetus is still in the woman.

OK, YF. Ball is in your court.

    Is this exception "meaningless"?

As re: abortion rights, the MYOB one is awfully weak. Especially when proffered by those who have absolutely no disinclination to meddle in myriad other affairs.

As re: the "vacuum" bit, the market is affected whether Smith and Jones contract or not.

Baron, you're going back and forth on this.

If, "because the fetus is still in the woman," is good enough to allow an abortion due to potential issues of depression the mother might face, why is it not a good enough reason regardless of any issues the mother might face?

Why can't she just decide to have an abortion whatever the reason?

Wow, Baron looking approvingly to the Palmetto State's abortion laws. Who'd a thunk it?

Who said I was looking approvingly? Dick asked for an example of the law. I provided one.

What is this, the third time you've assumed something about me on this thread? Fourth time?

Words backed by action? What kind of post-words action do you want?

You've said you support an exception. You proffered SC's law as an example of how said exception would be codified. Seems pretty reasonable to think you'd support that law.

But maybe there was something essentially wrong with it.
