Toppings have gotten out of hand.

Toppings I like, in order. Mushrooms, sausage, green pepper, pepperoni, onions -- but never more than two at a time.

Two is my limit, as well. And only a meat with a vegetable (sausage and onion) or vegetable with vegetable (peppers and onions), not two meats.

    Oh, never two meats. Never.

Italian sausage with onions and green peppers is the standard.

First time we ordered pizza after moving to Arkansas about 40 years ago, my dad ordered a pizza with "sausage, onions and peppers." It came with pork sausage. He was horrified.

Meat lovers pizza was invented for people who like to order pizza more than they like eating it.

Sweet Italian sausage and onions on a thin crust (extra crispy) is my go-to pie order.

Friday nights in our household have long been reserved for pizza and movies. The movies have changed -- there was a time when Veggie Tales were a staple -- but the pizzas have remained the same. For some ungodly reason, my youngest still prefers the Totinos cheese (yeah, the one that's $1.33 at Kroger).

Lived on those when I was first living on my own after high school -- long before I had any credibility. As cheap cardboard pizzas go, they're the gold standard.

Still love those things once in a while. As a bonus, you can chop up some of your own veggies to dress it up a bit. Some red onion, mushrooms and green pepper on there and you've got a nice little pizza. The cheese ones are like a blank canvas.

Cici's has a wonderful new BBQ chicken flatbread pizza. Getting my money's worth at the buffet now!
