The family of Bumpus Jones popping corks right now.

According to AP story, the Cincinnati pitcher is the only one in history to throw a no-no in his MLB debut. Did it against Pittsburgh on Oct. 15, 1892.

    Bumpus lives on.

EDIT: Typo in the date. Sorry for the confusion, Batman.

Opinion seems to be unanimous, from both teams and from pitchers and hitters, that this umpire sucks.

    Oct. 15?
Is that date right? Seems awfully late to be playing a regular season game.

It does seem late, but apparently it is correct. It was the last day of the season. And ol' Bumpus only appeared in eight career games.

    Giants win on Crawford HR.

On the bright side, the Dodgers held the Giants to a BABIP of .000.

And I would think the schedule has changed a bit over the last 125 years. LOL
