Is Steph Curry the 'best outside shooter of all time?'

Certainly the best I've seen, and it's not terribly close.

 

So we're choosing Stephen Curry, who has never led the league in 3-point shooting percentage, over his contemporary who has led it three times?

 

Larry Bird was a pretty damn good shooter. I'll take him. He has a better overall FG% than Curry ... or are we just talking 3s?

 

When you factor in the extra shots and degree of difficulty, yes.

Korver is a spot-up shooter. On those spot-up shots, Curry blows him away. Curry is being asked to do a lot more than that though -- which brings down his percentage but is still a positive for the Warriors. As Ethan Strauss wrote the other day, he is a "glitch" in the NBA system.

 

I feel like every time I see Curry put up a 3, he misses it.

 

Correct. Curry can make those spot up 3s with his eyes closed. His pct would be astronomical without all the tough shots he takes (and often makes)

 

Hmm ....guess that's why his team finished a meager 73-9.

The shame of it is that the folks who it's aimed at will never get it.

 

Curry is the best shooter I've ever seen at the NBA level, where it's hard as hell to do what he's doing, at the volume he is doing it.

 

I think Dick has a lot to contribute when he plays it straight on this board. But his need for just-this-side-of-trolling is becoming a severe annoyance. Shame on you for egging him on, YF.
