Ronnie got so mad about Beirut, he invaded Grenada.

Let's take a moment to understand exactly what happened in Beirut:

First, in the spring of 1983, the US embassy was bombed, killing 63 people, including 17 Americans. Seven of these people were with the CIA, including its top Middle East analyst.

Then, six months later, in October, a militant drive a truck with the equivalent of 21,000 tons of TNT into a Marine compound that was basically unguarded. There were 241 Marines killed. It was the deadliest attack on US Marines since Iwo Jima.

(At this point, there was a two-month Congressional investigation that found serious errors and made recommendations to correct them.)

But wait. It didn't end there. In the spring of 1984, militants kidnapped, tortured and murdered CIA station chief Bill Buckley.

There is nobody on planet Earth who can convince anyone with a functioning brain cell that the security lapse in Benghazi remotely compared to the multiple security lapses that occurred in Beirut in 1983 and 1984.

Good thing that kind of stuff doesn't happen anymore.

21000 tons of TNT? Fact check that - sounds like the equivalent of Hiroshima.

Yeah, it wasn't quite that powerful: 15,000-21,000 pounds of TNT, not tons.

Reagan said he "assumed all responsiblity" for the attack.

Apparently that meant he didn't get any cherry flavored jellybeans for two or three weeks.

The president assumed responsibility? What was he thinking?

HRC danced around the question during the debate. She said she was in favor of a $15 minium, noting that it would take a long time and that some places were ready for it and others weren't.

Essentially, she said she was in favor of it in concept -- as a goal.

If you look at all the state and municipal minimum wage legislation you'll note that the increases are phased in over a period of years and faster in some places than others.

Frankly, it's an easy thing to be in favor of because it isn't about to happen, at least in her first term.
