I wasn't a fan, but he was insanely talented. In a world where too many big stars neither write their songs nor play an instrument, he was prolific at both. I give him the edge over Michael Jackson because of those two factors.

So ... Michael Jackson is the credited song writer in many of his big hits.

I've never seen the guy pick up an instrument.

Good to know that's how you think of addiction.

Damn it, none of y'all told me MTV2 is playing videos and concert footage. I'd have been flipping back and forth during the (insanely long) commercial breaks on Purple Rain.

He's the only person in America watching reality shows on MTV right now.

Is it me or do I still wish Prince had been included in the "We Are the World" video?

RIP to one of the greatest musical geniuses ever.

Sad it takes a death to get MTV to be MTV again.

Not my cup of tea but he was a brilliant multi-instrument musician, writer, producer, performer and businessman.
Anyone who can walk into a studio to cut a disc and play every instrument, engineer it, produce it and market it is on another planet from a talent perspective.

Sadly, it's almost unwatchable now. They did six minutes of ads, played the Raspberry Beret video and then broke for four more minutes of commercials.
