I believe Sabathia still has another year remaining on the contract as an option. The club can end it if he's on the DL for an arm injury, or only pitches a certain amount due to an arm injury. But if he remains healthy and just pitches shitty, the Yanks are on the hook for another year.

King Felix is the first guy since the '80s with this many innings before/at age 30. His 97-98 fastball is down to 90 at best, and he's throwing it just 40% of the time. He got shelled today though it's his first bad game of the season.

The Yankees can absorb a mistake like Headley. The question is just how many of them they can absorb.

Even a team with that payroll has to develop homegrown talent as well.

Right, but in this instance, with the roster as currently constructed, they really can't absorb it. They can't move him, they can't bench him and they can't cut him. He's an albatross.

They'll be lucky if he gets an extra base hit before the All-Star Break at this point.
