All right. Now the NL can add the DH. We've seen everything.

 

Colon is the only active MLB player older than me, so I always root for him.

I'll try and look it up after I get off work, but Colon has to be the oldest MLB player ever to hit his first home run.

That Bartolo Colon homer. As cynical as I am about sports after a couple of decades in the biz... That's why I stick around. And why I'll stay in the biz until I'm asked to leave for good.

I was there (no footage, either of the game or me being there). That was the last time Rocker said anything intelligent, declaring he had no idea why the media was paying attention to him because "I'm merely a ballpalyer, guys."

I remember Peter Gammons waiting for him after the game and expressing his relief that nothing bad had happened. That wasn't the beginning of me realizing the truth about Peter Gammons, but it should have been.

Shit got really crazy the next night, when the Mets scored a team-record 10 runs in the eighth inning--nine with two outs--to beat the Braves. Piazza smoked a three-run homer to cap the rally off poor Terry Mulholland, who had no shot.

 

Given the imprint of Shields and Colon on the 14-15 World Series runs for KC, I get goosebumps watching both.

 

Did he unseat Prince Fielder or Pablo Sandoval for that title? I'm guessing Prince?

 

I don't think reporters should generally root for the people they cover, but hoping that a player does not get murdered during a game seems in bounds to me.
