I'll agree on the don't root for people you cover but, if someone was nice to me early in my career when I was starting out, I root hard for that person in subsequent years off the record.

 

Been a Braves fan all my life, and Piazza in his prime was the opposing hitter who most struck fear in my heart when he came to the plate. Second was Ryan Howard. Third was Pedro Guerrero.

 

That makes two of us. Have not minded the addition of Gavin Floyd.

 

When you play 13 innings ... on Sunday.

 

Baez walkoff homer in bottom-13, Cubs win 7th straight to go to 24-6.

Harper goes 0-0 with 6 walks.

 

Only a one-run win. Barely counts.

 

I don't get it.

It's bad. But as someone pointed out on Twitter, at least it's not a month of thinly disguised exploitation, a la the NFL.

 

Arrieta's control issues have to be a huge concern. He's living on borrowed time.
