If a Republican is going to win, it's going to be with almost exactly 270 electoral votes.

Why don't they put Romney on the ballot in just Utah, and maybe Idaho -- states where there are a lot of Mormons, and few Democrats.

Then the party can unite behind Trump in every other state.

Unless Trump somehow wins Pennsylvania or Michigan -- in which case, he deserved the Presidency -- he can't get to 270 if Romney beats him in Utah/Idaho.

Then it goes to the House.

In this scenario, while its a little like drawing to an inside straight, everyone who wants Trump or Romney votes for Trump in every other state.

Transgenderism has been around since near the beginning of time. Let's not pretend some impulse of postmodern emotional appeal illuminates it better.

That it's new to your sensibilities hardly means it is new. And I know that reads with a lack of grace, but ill counter that, by federal government fiat, you are not necessarily creating more protections long term. You are now. But, again, better to let individual communities work through this

Oh, and yes, confused teens. teens are confused about a whole shitload of things. If they're unclear about their gender - which is, except for the rarest cases, very clear, it is not to their moral sanctity to be so.

Discrimination in this case is very much up for debate. Very, very much. You are talking about a person's idea of himself and herself that flies in the face of science in favor of exalting personal feeling, to the potential offense of others who defer to science, whose feelings don't count because...they're not aggrieved enough a party.

The whole federal directive is asking for trouble. You should not make directives like this on the strength of feeling sorrow for people.

Followed by the November 9 chatter of whether the president-elect will run in 2020 and who in the other party will challenge them. Followed by four more years of bloviating bullshit.

Serious questions: Have you ever had any interpersonal interaction with a person you knew to be transgender? Do you have any experience with the kind of emotional trauma that telling someone who is quite clear in who they are that they're "confused" causes? Or that who they are "flies in the face of science" when in fact science has understood for some time that they exist exactly as they are? Or telling a trans boy that he must use the girls room because he'll make other people uncomfortable when he needs to take a piss?
