Sure. And there are clear rules about how he should do it, including not starting his slide while basically on the bag. Cobb may hate it. Pete Rose may hate it. Hell, you can trot out as many old timers who hate the rule as it is now as you want, it doesn't change the fact that the rule is pretty clear.

Whether you like it or not that is the new rule. The Rangers were given the DP.

Me and you don't get along, and I doubt we ever will. What did you personally think of the slide? New rule aside?

Exactly. Bautista tries to take him out with a slide that is iffy at best, gets up, walks up to Odor, they shove each other... and Odor plants one.

That's not a sucker punch. That's Bautista pretending to look for a fight and being shocked when he found it.

Opinions aside, the slide was not fine, as you claimed. It violated the new rule.

And he deserved to get punched for it?

    Go away.

I hate the new rule but I think it was applied properly.

No, he didn't deserve but that doesn't make it a sucker punch. They were in a confrontation.

I was wrong with my words about it being a sucker punch. My bad. But he deserves 50 games for that. At least

Yup. Catcher used to block the plate and the runner would try to run him over and knock the ball out. Then Buster Posey got hurt.

Reminded me of Carpenter's takeout of Scutaro in the 2012 NLCS. Alas, this is the last time they'll meet this season.

    Jesus Christ.

Once it turned into a face to face confrontation and they shoved each other, getting punched like that means you were too fucking slow.

He doesn't deserve 50 games for being better at this than Bautista.

They went toe to toe. Bautista lost. It happens.
