I thought Trump had won you over. Is he losing you again already? :)

I don't have a problem with him hiring a pollster.

There were a couple of interesting polls this morning on "Morning Joe."

First: 87 percent of Republicans support Donald Trump. The same number of Democrats support support Hillary Clinton. Trump leads among independents (aka "Bernie Bros"). I think the number was 44-36. I think this was an NBC poll, but I can't recall for sure. #NeverTrump sure lasted a long time.

Second: In another poll, among Republicans, in an NBC News survey, 58 percent trust Trump to lead the party compared to 39 percent that trust Paul Ryan, in a head-to-head matchup.

Ryan has to be beside himself over what has developed over the last year.

Big picture: Trump is unashamedly drifting to the middle. People like him. He could win. Is it possible he could win in a landslide? I feel like the NYT "expose" on his dealing with women was a bit of a watershed moment, in that there wasn't a lot of "there there." I think a lot of people will realize the same about his immigration and Muslim comments. They are all fairly defensible and not necessarily attributable to racism, and people are going to realize that. Race has been incidental to all these stances, not at the core of them. I mean, Jesus, he's fighting with David Cameron, as well.

Who did the Times accuse Trump of molesting?

Even Colbert was making fun of the NYT's pearl-clutching on that piece.

Seriously, it can't be stated enough: The lead was a meet-cute anecdote about how he met his girlfriend, except set to ominous music, basically. Another several inches was devoted to him calling women "dear" and "hon." Women I work with have called me those things.

Very interesting thing the Guardian is doing with its pollster on the EU referendum in Great Britain. It had the company conduct simultaneous telephone and Internet polls, and the disparity between the results was noteworthy. Telephone poll had staying in the EU ahead by 10 points, Internet poll had leave ahead by four. Pollster has no idea which one is more accurate, and hilariously expressed the belief (by which it meant hope) actual result was somewhere in the middle.

Just when I thought I couldn't like here any more. What I wouldn't give to be 10 years younger... and a lot of other things...
