That's the one that gets me. I don't expect it to go all the way to where the rulebook says, because those pitches are unhittable, but it should go higher than it does.

40-plus years ago, the Angels played an exhibition game at USC, which had just opened Dedeaux Field on campus. Surprisingly, the Angels did the radio broadcast of the game. Enberg and Don Drysdale were there. One of their sponsors was Busch Gardens and Bird Sanctuary in Van Nuys. The lead-in to the live commercial had Drysdale saying, "Have you ever seen a cockatoo on a bicycle?"
Sure enough, Drysdale says, "Have you ever seen a cock or two on a bicycle?"
Enberg and Drysdale both dove for their cough buttons and broke out laughing.

I think this is more important than the bottom of the zone. If you can throw a pitch level with the bottom of the hitter's sternum and he can't hit it, you could get a strike call for that.

If they really want to shorten the games, they have a choice to make: To cut or not cut commercial time between half-innings. In my view, as long as they're married to the financial windfall the breaks afford, anything else they try is just window dressing. If a game that lasts three hours and 17 minutes is suddenly cut to 3 hours and 15 minutes because of these tweaks, nobody will be able to tell the difference.

The Royals have been on the South Side for two days now. They've won twice to get right back into the race, got Moose back and no coaches have been assaulted.

So so far a better visit than usual.

White Sox fans are going soft.

You'll still see way more dudes in skinny jeans at Wrigley Field, though.
