72 plate appearances and one walk.

For a while this season, Tyler Saladio on the White Sox had a higher batting average than OBP.

Speaking of which, McCann of the Tigers still has just 1 XBH in 66 PA's but that homer boosted his OPS to .391.

Barbershop folk still don't know what OPS means. /Wilbon

No, not really. I'm just president of the Paulo Orlando fan club.

But now that he's playing every day his inevitable batting title should be enough to make him one of those one-named Brazilian sports stars. :)

Is he Brazilian? I thought Yan Gomes was the only one.

They are both from São Paulo, but Orlando was a Brazilian track athlete before baseball. Gomes went to high school and college in the US.

Andre Rienzo, who has pitched for the White Sox and Marlins the last few years, but is currently back at Triple-A, is also Brazilian.

Since 2010, the Giants have played 18 home series against the Dodgers. San Francisco has won 12 of those.
The Giants have won all but one (2013) season series against L.A. this decade.
Since winning the World Series in 1988, the Dodgers have won three playoff series and zero pennants. In that span, the Giants have won 11 postseason series, four pennants and three titles.

This represents a massive shift. From 1972-85, the Dodgers finished ahead of the Giants every year but one. SF went 104-142 against L.A. One of every five losses to the Dodgers was by shutout.

    Cool story, bro.

I don't think the season series has ever been more than 11-8 one way, at least lately. They have never met in the playoffs.

    Interesting definition of "own," though.

Oh, God, that would have been horrible.

Look, I don't want to get deep into a Vin Scully debate. He is Dodger baseball and he deserves to go as long as he wants. And their fan base still adores him and expects the yarns he weaves. I enjoy listening still, because I'm old enough to remember Saturday afternoons.

But to a general audience that isn't familiar with his style, he's a doddering old man. And it has gotten more noticeable in the last few years. The Twitter rage and mocking would be insufferable. I'd feel sorry for the guy by the end of it.

They should have him and Hawk Harrelson do the game together.

    Deadspin would love it.
