As expected, Star steps down as chancellor.

Would taking a year or two off, like USF basketball in the 80s, be an option?

You take a year or two off, you're out of the Big 12 (in all sports) and you're buried forever. It's a self-imposed death penalty.

Sure. But I think there was a big political and theological fight in the Southern Baptist Church 20-25 and as a result the governance of Baylor became more conservative. But there are more conservative schools out there though off the top of my head none of those schools are really trying as hard to be research universities as Baylor.

I understand that but I think they should treat it as a sunk cost.

Baylor is the best thing that ever happened to Tennessee. Surprised the AD is still there.

You know for all the crud Baylor has received - the board should be commended for an apparently thorough investigation and holding those responsible accountable.
There are more than a few places where they would have dumped the President and/or AD, kept the football coach and said they will draft new reform measures to makes sure what happened never happens again. The stuff at Tennessee has been going on for years. The Baylor stuff only unravelled in the last few months.

There are bars juuuust off campus, close enough to possibly walk back to apartments, but too far away to walk to the dorms.

And in downtown Waco -- a five-minute drive from campus -- there are several establishments that are popular with students. There's no shortage of places for students to drink.

Not hardly. None of this would have happened if not for that Texas Monthly article on Ukwuachu and the ensuing horrifying sentence. Are you buying that the regents knew nothing about that, a player sitting out while under indictment? Then the tidal wave began through media reports. And the regents finally decided to take a look under the real or implied threat of DOJ involvement.

No hero or crusader points here.

I could buy that the regents knew nothing about that ... But I agree that you don't get bonus points for reacting as you should when you should.
