Any President who acted in their capacity as Commander in Chief to suspend the Second Amendment as currently incorrectly interpreted by the hack/crackpot wing of the Supreme Court as a matter of national security could only be congratulated. I know it'd come hard for some white male losers who daydream of killing people of color, but I can live with that.
People should be able to own guns. Like cars, they should be registered and forced to carry liability insurance. Open carry laws are a violation of public safety and any civilian carrying a weapon openly in public should be treated as a terrorist suspect.

 

Michael, I get where are you are coming from to a degree and am for some increased regulation. But I think sweeping generalizations like that coming from a guy in Boston also contribute a bit to red state resentment and the inclination for sone people who own guns to buckle down at perceived threats to that right.

You seeing a guy with a gun at your neighborhood Dunkin Donuts means something altogether different than if you walk into a feed store in Big Horn, Wyoming and a cowboy has a pistol in his holster or a rifle on a rack in his pickup. It's not because he's a terrorist suspect or looking to shoot some black guy that doesn't exist in his town. He might run into a bear when he's checking his cattle though.

It's not a liberal or conservative thing. My dad is a rural Republican who doesn't like to consider that a New Yorker might have a different perspective and different needs from government than he does.

Blame is, as always, not indivisible. Trump introduced violence into the process, this is the result of both sides deciding to take swings.

That said, it's abhorrent and everyone involved in any such act should be sent to prison.

 

This is why we have states and state governments that are allowed to enact laws more suited to their local situations. It's a genius system.
Unfortunately, too many people on both sides want a one size fits all solution to every problem and can't wrap their heads around the fact that more restrictive gun laws that make sense in a densely populated city like New York don't make a lick of sense in Wyoming.
