Not saying the A's aren't responsible for their own problems, but the Giants have had a great stadium the last 16 years, have won three World Series titles and four NL pennants. When the Giants got their act together after decades of a shitty park and their own poor ownership, things became much harder for the A's.

The Giants almost didn't survive the 70s - they were within a hair of moving to Toronto.

Beginning of the end for Texas?

Yu Darvish leaves after five with shoulder tightness and Adrian Beltre comes out two innings later with a left hamstring. They suffer their first loss against the Astros this season.

So after a 23-10 start the White Sox have gone 6-20. What the hell happened?

Can't hit. Can't pitch, particularly the bullpen. Can't manage.

It's been absolutely miserable. For a while they were losing a bunch of one-run games. Now they just get their ass handed to them nightly.

Another sub-.500 season would make it three winning seasons for the A's in 10 years. Only teams like the Padres and Marlins are jealous.

Stopped that meter before you had to include the 2006 ALCS appearance, eh? Anyway, made the playoffs all three of those winning seasons.

Three winning seasons in 10 years, seven winning seasons in 14 years.

Point stands. Moneyball came out in 2003. The A's have been in the playoffs five times since then. Not exactly the picture of "lousy baseball."

Nothing, except their unsustainable pitching came back to earth. ERA in their first 25 games was 2.72. May ERA was 4.18 and June ERA is 6.71. OBP all the way up to .314, 11th in the AL. Also 11th in scoring in the AL at 4.033 runs per game, so no change there.

Their stiffs turned back into pumpkins.
