Mass casualty shooting in Orlando nightclub

Early reports said there was a two-hour hostage standoff and when authorities finally went in they took him out with no more casualties. Certainly no expert on police tactics, but like Paris, it sounds like the hostage standoff has become an effective terrorist tool.

 

Wow. News conference bumps dead total to 50 from 20. Not that 20 wasn't a lot of tragedy, but 50 is up there in record territory.

 

Wow.

 

"Ideologically motivated attack." Obviously motivated by a love of guns.

 

Deadliest in U.S. history.

 

"Worst mass shooting in U.S. history."

 

Mrs. Whitman: "They hate gays, just like other religions."

Mr. Whitman: "Don't do that. Don't passive-aggressively implicate another religion which has nothing to do with this."

I consider myself liberal, but among fellow liberals, it's reflexive at this point.

 

Elsewhere, people are upset that others seem blind to the problem of guns. Can you imagine completely ignoring a serious problem in our world?

 

One guy did all of this? That's crazy.

 

But guns.
