It's not the same weapon. Unless, of course, you think the Toyota Camry on the NASCAR circuit is the same vehicle you can get at the local dealership.

Remember those idiots who guarded recruting offices? Makes me feel warm and cozy.

A valid point, and one made by many people on the left, usually resulting in criticism from others on the left. (Bill Maher is perhaps the best recent example).

Denouncing violence against gays and women doesn't mean one is being culturally insensitive. Likewise, denouncing the availability of assault weapons doesn't desecrate the second amendment.

I'm not saying that to divert the topic -- only pointing out that until all sides start interjecting nuance into the conversation I'm not sure we'll get anywhere.

Both driven at a high speed into a crowd of people would do horrific damage and lead to considerable loss of life.

The true difference is neither were designed for -- or primarily used for -- that purpose. The rifle was and is.

I'm a bit shocked threads haven't been started in the design and journalism topics board about nuts-and-bolts issues.

Puhleeze. Is it so hard just to express condolences instead of complaining that the victims aren't tough enough?

Usually the designers shine on burial day.

Um, I think he meant tough on terror, as a nation.
