What kind of custom .380 ammo are you loading to get those results? Most .380 ammo hits about 1,000 FPS with around 200 foot-pounds of muzzle energy. Factory .223 is around 4,000 FPS with 1,200 foot-pounds.

There's a reason why most .380s are short-range, pocket pistols.

This crime absolutely was a confluence of a combination of things.

It was not only a hate crime. It was obviously so much more. Let's face it, lots of people (me included) aren't comfortable with gays acting out PDAs, or they generally disagree with or dislike the lifestyle. That doesn't mean they'd ever shoot anybody up over it. It takes hate at a whole other level to do that.

It was not only a religiously influenced/adhered-to crime. I don't think there can be any doubt that Marteen's Islamic beliefs had a big hand in his actions. But that doesn't mean more moderate (or sane) Muslims might not have a lesser reaction to or a different interpretation of whatever drove him.

It was not only a gun-control (or lack thereof) crime. A gun was simply the most understandable, probable, fastest and most effective way for someone who was a security guard, who had guns readily available, and who already had licenses, to easily kill as many people as possible. A would-be killer without those credentials and immediate access, say the aforementioned bombers, might have just chosen another way -- the easiest, safest, most expedient way for them to do the job without getting caught before they did it.

This is a complicated problem. That's why it hasn't been solved already, and won't be, particularly in a free country that errs on the side of freedom even for abusers of it.

My feeling is, this guy may have been born in the U.S., and may have been a U.S. citizen. But he clearly did not appreciate having been such, or to borrow from another thread, did not really identify as such. More than anything, he just took advantage of it in the worst way.

The measure that I think would produce the most good, in terms of fewer gun crimes overall, would be to disarm most of the police.

So long as our taxpayer dollars go for what amounts to a mini-army that fancies itself in the midst of an action movie, I'm not sure how things get a lot better.

That would have been a great way to get ALL of the people in the club killed.

So we're in agreement these big guns are for the most part superfluous toys for adults? Good.

As for being a regular hunting rifle, it also seems it's relatively close to an M16 (liberal propaganda I'm sure). If that's true, it means the US Army rolls into combat zones with moderately suped up hunting rifles. Impressive.

Jeffrey Dahmer was as evil as they come. He killed people, had sex with their dead bodies, harvested their skulls as trophies, and ate their organs.

He killed 17 over 14 years.

This guy killed 50 in a few hours.

Yes, people kill people. But guns make killing a lot of people - in a short amount of time - a helluva lot easier.

That's what you call a problem.

You don't seem to know much about firearms. Not impressive.

I don't. Not super into expensive deadly toys.

Gay Pride parades throughout the Middle East will likely be somber events this year, as opposed the their normal boisterous affairs.

On the glass half full side, if the DN can do what fb does maybe they won't have to get rid of half their staff and cut salaries and benefits.

How long would it take for you to shoot more than 100 people?

But if they made it illegal to purchase those guns no way he would be able to get one. Just like no way kids can get heroin and crystal meth.
